EXPRESSING THE FINANCIAL CONCEPT OF “MUTUALITY” THROUGH FAMILY AND LOVE.
“Who matters most to you, says the most about you.” I wrote this line to help people understand what exactly makes a mutual company appealing to a consumer. With a mutual company, its customers—it’s insurance policyholders—are their sole concern. Mutual companies don’t have stockholders. They don’t answer to the day-to-day market. Buy a policy from a mutual company, and its focus will be solely on you. That’s the kind of reassurance most people can only get from family and loved ones.

I traveled the country with a small team one summer. I interviewed MassMutual customers in living rooms, at their kitchen tables, and in their offices. Then I sat down with the transcripts and edited them. I drew up accompanying storyboards. And I worked with an illustrator and animator to create social teasers, bumpers and these long-form videos:
