ABOUT MYSELF

A long time ago, I graduated from Georgetown University and moved to New York City to start my career as a copywriter. Today I’m still a writer, but I’m a creative leader too. I inspire my teams with one part imagination and one part data-driven insights, to generate creative work that solves business problems. I build trust—both internally and with clients—through clear and honest communication, attentive response, and a friendly sense of humor. I like to involve myself with every aspect of a project, from the brief to the uploads to the optimization. Always ensuring there's consistent, clear messaging across all mediums, hitting consumers as they hop between mobile, social and traditional channels. 

As for my personal style, I believe that for a brand to resonate it must be rooted firmly in truth. I mean, why would you ever want to con consumers? Isn’t it way more fun (and effective) to convince, conspire, commiserate or even co-create with them? Truth gives you the foundation for a compelling message, whether it takes the form of a long-form story, an elaborate activation, a piece of direct mail, or a quick social snack. Plus, you’ll build an appreciative audience, too. People enjoy truthful brands. I also believe there's little point to one-offs. I prefer full-scale integrated marketing plans with long-term value. Work that seamlessly transitions across owned, earned and paid communication. And finally, I believe that whatever work I make with my team, we have to be genuinely excited while we're making it. After all, if creatives aren’t enjoying creating something, what consumer is going to enjoy consuming it?

  • I develop brand-defining creative projects from concept to completion, including television ads, online videos, social content, direct mail, radio, print and activations. 

  • I ensure branding standards are in perfect sync across all channels. Guiding any necessary evolution of branding elements to always assure clients' tone, voice and image remains in lockstep, and effectively engages consumers.

  • I mentor creative teams of copywriters, art directors, designers, and developers. I’ve recruited, interviewed and hired quality talent. And I really enjoy mentoring. Advising people on how to navigating their career paths.

  • I partner with planning, account and media teams to write strategic marketing plans and briefs. I monitor all aspects of testing and optimization. And continually survey industry trends.

  • I play trombone with a local band. I enjoy running, even though I get slower every year. I have two active kids, and one wonderful wife.
